we are wild and free

group of kids posing in front of burial moundIt was another wild and free Wednesday.  We hiked another metro park and found ourselves at a Native American burial mound; these things are all over the parks here.  They can sometimes be anticlimactic, but this time we checked out a model beforehand that had miniature skeletons in it, which made it a bit more real.

group of kids standing on bench looking into woodsWe spent time nature journaling, eating, and playing afterwards.  As the mamas chatted, we heard tales of pirate ships and organized drama productions all being played-out at the natural play area.  Courben recounted the morning by saying, “I love it more than anything…well, after God and Legos.”  The kid’s got priorities!
