boy tasting honey from the combYesterday, we headed to Stratford Ecological Center for a co-op field trip. We learned all about honeybees:

  • Drones (male bees) are made when a the bee larvae isn’t fertilized 
  • Honey is made when about six bees pass nectar vomit between each other
  • Static electricity is the way pollen and bees collide 
  • The scientific word for stinger is ovipositor, which means egg-depositor

kids jumping mid-airWe also saw piglets being born, witnessed a cat catching his chipmunk prey, and ate lunch and took jumping pictures by the pond.
