After much convincing, Courben read “Hatchet” by Gary Paulsen and loved it! He’s onto the other “Brian” books now, and he even built Brian’s rescue plane from legos. I continue to let the boys choose books to read and listen to as long as it’s not ‘twaddle’ (junk books). For writing, we’ve been focusing on rewriting fairy tales, like the three bears or the billy goats gruff. I’ve found that these stories turn out quite good because they already know the basic beginning, middle, and end. It’s mostly imitation at this stage and they can innovate later.
This is just an example of Judah’s writing right now. Have I mentioned I love kindergarten writing? So adorable! Another week in the books.
