homeschool, week 19

We focused quite a bit on US History this week, reading about what life was like for the Pilgrims. One of the things I appreciate about the Charlotte Mason method is the desire for living books instead of dry textbooks. This has made history and science come alive for the boys.

Judah began work on high frequency words and is loving the ability to read simple books because of this.

Courben learned a neat way to add 9s in math. I’m still quite happy with the Math U See curriculum we’ve chosen. It gives great visual and hands-on reasoning to math. It’s been great for me, too, because I’m certain I learned math by rote memorization instead of learning the why behind things.
