Most Wednesdays, the boys and I head to Gahanna to have lunch with Auntie Lauren on her break. You’d think that a thing like having a picnic lunch would be not much more than what it sounds. Not so. Both boys find the dirt pile, the sticks, the crunchy leaves, the trees, and end up head-to-toe-dirty. Today, specifically, Courben couldn’t reach the helicopter seeds, so he just climbed the tree so he could collect as many as he could. I’m pretty sure this tree was a bit young to have climbers, but both were unscathed in the end. Bellies full, filthy fingernails, and legs worn out, we headed home from just another picnic lunch.
