We have chosen to send a letter to all those who are closest to us, which means most of you should be finding this little gem in your mailbox in a few days. Thank you for all the support you give to us. If there is anyone who may benefit from this letter, feel free to pass along this link.
We would like to introduce you to a very special little person.
This is our child.
We do not know her yet. We haven’t met her and we don’t have pictures. We are adopting an infant from within the United States. What we do know is this:
She is still being knit together in her mother’s womb. We know, too, that she is fearfully and wonderfully made by our Creator. She has been knit to our hearts already and we can barely wait to meet her; we even dream about her. She needs a childhood that allows her to be a child and an environment where she can thrive and flourish and know and experience the true love and grace of our Father. After all, we’re all adopted into His family (what is Church if people adopted into His family?) and a loving family is what she needs the most.
You can help provide this for her.
We cannot wait to bring her home, to hold her in our arms, and always provide a hand for her to hold as she grows. No words can capture the true joy and excitement we feel as we anticipate the blessing of her presence in our home. The boys are holding out hope for a baby sister (while we have no preference for a boy or girl, we’ve followed their lead in this letter).
We would like to invite you to be a part of our adoption by giving. We have two goals: the first is to create a community of friends, family and neighbors who are ready and excited to welcome our child into their lives as a part of our extended family. Our other goal is $23,595 to bring her home. When you give financially, you become emotionally invested.
Can we count on you to stand behind us as we move forward with this adoption?
You can give her a family.
This is not theoretical. This is not a faceless charity. This is the Shoemakers. You know us; you know our family. You’ve smiled at the birth of each of our boys; you’ve prayed as Nate spent months in Afghanistan; and you’ve cheered us on in the adventures that come with planting a church.
We trust that God will provide the funds needed to complete this adoption. One way may be through people like you. With that in mind, we ask that you ask God if He would like you to give and be part of our journey.
Please pray with faith that God, who is our Jehovah Jireh-our Provider, would move mountains to bring our daughter home.
