This was the first 4th of July we have spent away from our family in a long time. Usually, we attend the Angola parade and fireworks with my parents and siblings. With the holiday landing on a Wednesday, it wasn’t feasible to make the three and a half hour trek there and back in one day. So, we spent the day with our oikos here in Columbus. What a fun day it turned out to be, despite the killer heat. The boys enjoyed the parade (Courben quoted it as his favorite part of the day), even though it lasted almost two hours. Judah eyed every balloon that went by on a float; and finally, someone handed them out to the little ones. His day was made! The rest of the day was spent outside playing in a shallow blow-up pool, jumping on a soaked trampoline, and of course, eating. Both boys made it all the way through fireworks and promptly fell asleep on the way home. I’m certainly thankful they slept in the longest they ever have this morning. Also, thankful for the family we have here, just love them!
